VBD Charity Golf Day raises $15,371.90 for charity

Chartered Accountants held their annual Charity Golf Day at Merewether Golf
Club, raising much needed funds for The Fred Hollows Foundation and The Rotary
Club of Newcastle Sunrise.The 7th annual Charity Golf Day was a huge success, raising $15,371.90 for the two charities - the best year ever! With the generous support of local businesses, the VBD Charity Golf Day has raised over $85,000 in the last seven years. Greg Valentine, Partner at VBD Chartered Accountants, is thrilled.
“The golf day just continues to gain momentum. We have many long standing businesses that sponsor this event, and each year we also have many new businesses coming on board as sponsors. The day wouldn’t be possible without their support,” says Greg.
Greg also adds that the golf day is growing, and every year it raises more money than the last. “Our golf day is increasingly deemed as one of the best in the region.”
Out of the money raised this year, 50% of the funds raised will be donated to The Fred Hollows Foundation. The other 50% will be donated to The Rotary Club of Newcastle Sunrise and will help facilitate projects that directly assist our community and community organisations.
The Fred Hollows Foundation’s Corporate Relations Manager, Penny Tribe, says, “VBD Chartered Accountants have kept Fred’s dream alive. For just $25, sight can be restored. This donation will bring the gift of sight to many people, young and old, who are blinded by poverty alone. Thank you very much, VBD Chartered Accountants.”
